Visitor Information
Sky Lakes Medical Center can provide certain patient information over the telephone. However, in some cases, the patient or the patient’s family may request that such information not be released.
Visiting hours
We understand that visitors are important to the healing process, and we encourage family and friends to visit. To ensure your safety, your nurse will determine how many visitors you can have at a time. Visitors are required to follow our infection prevention and control policies and wear masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE) as directed. Children younger than 12 may visit when under adult supervision; they need to stay in the patient’s room. Standard visiting hours are 5:30 am to 8:00 pm. Visitors outside of those hours are considered case-by-case. Your nurse can answer your questions.
Support Persons
Sky Lakes allows a patient to designate at least three support persons and at least one support person to be present with the patient at all times in the emergency department and during the patient’s stay at the hospital, if necessary, to facilitate the patient’s care.

Family Birth Center
Visiting hours in the Family Birth Center are individualized according to the patient’s needs and wishes. Visitors may enter the birth center directly between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. and through the emergency department during other hours.
Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
In the intensive care unit (ICU), families are welcomed any time except from 5:30 to 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Because of the nature of the care delivered on the unit, visitors to this unit are asked to use the intercom near the unit entrance before entering.
Emergency Department
The Emergency Department is always open. The entrance will be staffed with entrance screeners 5:45 p.m. to midnight daily. Staff in the Sky Lakes Communication Center will ask the screening questions when screening staff are not on duty.
Visitation safety guidelines
For the comfort and well-being of all our patients, we ask that visitors follow these guidelines:
- Please ask that your family and friends do not visit if they are ill with an infectious disease, such as a cold or flu.
- A responsible adult must supervise visiting children at all times. No animals are permitted on the nursing units, with the exception of guide dogs.
- Flowers for patients are welcome except in the ICU or elsewhere where they may promote infection or trigger an allergic reaction among patients, visitors or staff. Latex balloons may pose a danger to people with latex allergies and present a potential choking danger to children. Only Mylar balloons are permitted in the medical center.
Cellphones
We recognize there are many reasons why family and friends may need to use their cellular telephones while visiting Sky Lakes Medical Center. But because the signals of some phones present a potential risk of interference with some medical devices, we strongly discourage the use of cellphones from patient rooms and ask that they be turned off while in rooms. Visitors are free to make calls on cellphones from corridors or lobbies
Smoking
Sky Lakes Medical Center is a nonsmoking facility. Smoking is not allowed.
Amenities for Patients and Visitors
Information desk
The Sky Lakes volunteers who staff the information desk can help you locate services and departments at Sky Lakes Medical Center as well as those around our campus. The information desk is located on the first floor of the hospital near the main lobby.
Sky Lakes Medical Center has become quite large, and we felt a need to put it all on a printable map that you can keep handy to navigate your way around the medical center.
RV parking
Visitors with recreational vehicles can park their RVs in parking lot C east of the main campus off Bryant Williams Drive. This is for day use only. No overnight stays please.
Visitors with RV’s that need to be close by for longer can request a space adjacent to the Hugh Currin House by calling the Cancer Treatment Center at (541)274-4171
Or can park at a local campground.
Cafeteria
The cafeteria at Sky Lakes Medical Center is open 24 hours a day. It is designed to serve hospital employees as well as visitors and guests.
Automated teller machine (ATM)
Washington Federal Bank operates an automatic teller machine in the main lobby of the medical center for the convenience of our patients and visitors.
Mail and flower delivery
Few things can brighten a hospital room like mail and flowers. Sky Lakes Medical Center volunteers will deliver flowers to patient rooms within minutes after they arrive from the florist.
Note: Flowers can be delivered to patients in CCU rooms at the discretion of the nursing staff on a patient-by-patient basis. If the patient has already left the hospital, the flowers will be returned to the florist for home delivery. Sky Lakes Medical Center volunteers will deliver mail to patient rooms. If they have already left the hospital, the mail will be forwarded to their home.
