Sky Lakes is a leader in rural health care
The Chartis Center of Rural Health and the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) has twice recognized Sky Lakes Medical Center for its “Performance Leadership,” reflecting top quartile performance among all rural hospitals in the nation.
HealthInsight
In 2018, Sky Lakes was recognized by HealthInsight for demonstrating excellence in providing high-quality patient care. HealthInsight is a regional health care-improvement collaborative and its Quality Award Program recognizes high-performing health care organizations.
Beacon Award of Excellence
Sky Lakes Medical Center’s Intensive Care/Critical Care Unit early in 2023 earned a silver-level Beacon Award of Excellence, conferred by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
The three-year Beacon Award of Excellence recognizes exceptional patient care and healthy work environments. It follows a rigorous application process in which the unit demonstrated that its practices aligned with the AACN’s standards for optimal patient care.
Units that receive the Beacon Award for Excellence meet criteria in six categories: Leadership structures and systems, appropriate staffing and staff engagement, effective communication, learning and development, evidence-based practice and processes, and outcome measurement.
Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award
The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association in 2020 again awarded Sky Lakes Emergency Department its Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award for our continued success using the Get With The Guidelines-Stroke program. This is the second consecutive Gold Plus recognition for Sky Lakes.
The department also is listed in the Honor Roll Elite for its performance in the Target: Stroke program and earned in 2020 Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll recognition.
The award recognizes our commitment and success in implementing a high standard of stroke care, and our outstanding efforts combating type 2 diabetes and its impact on cardiovascular disease.
Newsweek’s Best Maternity Care Hospitals 2020
Newsweek’s Best Maternity Care Hospitals 2020 report recognizes the Sky Lakes Family Birth Center for demonstrating excellence in our care for mothers, babies, and families.
The elite designation, awarded to only 231 hospitals in the nation, identifies leading maternity care programs based on rigorous quality and safety standards.
Leapfrog Safety Guidelines
Newsweek’s best maternity care hospitals demonstrate the highest performance in the United States as verified by the 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Survey. Designated hospitals meet Leapfrog’s rigorous standards for excellence in maternity care — including low rates of C-section, episiotomy (an incision to enlarge the vaginal opening for childbirth), and elective early delivery — and follow important protocols to protect moms and babies, among other measures.
Sky Lakes also earned an A on the Spring 2020 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. The A Safety Grade is also an elite designation from the Leapfrog Group, a national, independent watchdog that sets the highest standards for patient safety in the United States. It’s the third consecutive A Safety Grade for the Klamath Falls medical center.
Sky Lakes previously received “A” Safety Grades from the Leapfrog Group in fall 2018, spring 2019, and fall 2019.
Healthgrades
Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals, recognized Sky Lakes as a five-star recipient for treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease for three years in a row (2017-2019), and as a five-star recipient for treatment of pneumonia in 2019.
In late 2018, Healthgrades rated pulmonary care at Sky Lakes among the top 10 percent in the nation. The achievement was among the findings in the Healthgrades 2019 Report to the Nation.
