Marciela, Marcy, is a Sky Lakes Values in Action award recipient for excellence. According to the pharmacy team, “Marciela always comes to work with a smile and is the first willing to help in all situations. Her comforting personality is proven to make difficult situations better and her integrity and willingness to provide excellent patient care is what every hometown pharmacy needs.”
The following patient story was Marcy’s values in action nomination.
“I was told by a local pharmacy that my 20-month-old daughter’s prescription for a bacterial infection was out of stock until the next day. I called the next day and it still was not in. I was left with the option of having the prescription transferred. I made multiple calls to five different pharmacies in town before I got through to Marcy at Sky Lakes. She answered the first call that I made and assured me that she would help. At around 5 pm that evening, I got a phone call from Marcy saying that she had not heard from the original pharmacy about getting the prescription transferred. That was the first indication that Marcy was a genuinely good human trying to help a mom out. She did not have to call and update me so I could then call the other pharmacy, but she did.
The next day around 2 p.m. I get another call from Marcy saying that she still had not got the fax from the pharmacy. Not only was she checking and waiting for my daughter’s prescription, she had also tried to call the original pharmacy to see if they had sent anything.
Once the prescription was finally transferred, I found out at 4:45 (with the outpatient pharmacy closing at 5 p.m.) that it was ready. I had no way to get across town. I frantically called my mom (who lives closer). A little after five, I get a call and recognize the sincere voice on the other end, it’s Marcy. She said that there was a life flight happening at the time and that my mom may not be able to make it to them.
She asked for my mom’s number to coordinate getting the prescription out to her. With it being a Saturday and after closing, I really thought my daughter would have to wait until Monday to get her medication, but Marcy did everything she could to ensure that we got the antibiotics. Marcy strikes me as the type of person who often puts other’s needs before her own and I do not want it to go unnoticed. I cannot thank her enough for all that she did for my little girl and me.”
