Last week Cascades East Residents were in Chiloquin with two ultrasound machines to demonstrate how ultrasound works to seventh through ninth grade students for a Health Careers Fair. The residents and med students explained how ultrasound works and what all students were looking at when they were imaging wrists, knees, and even one of the residents’ necks at one point! This event was part of the On Track OHSU program.
On Track OHSU! works with Oregon middle and high schools to increase the number of students from underrepresented minority backgrounds in the health sciences and in Oregon’s biomedical workforce. OHSU student volunteers serve as role models and work to increase students’ engagement in the sciences.
